Taking sustainability further: EDF Renewables joins battery recycling consortium
By joining the consortium "Growth in Battery Recycling: analysis and evaluation of process chains and technologies", EDF Renewables is taking an important step towards sustainable supply chains. Together with other companies, the objective is to strengthen the recyclability of batteries. To this end, the consortium investigates market developments in the field of lithium-ion batteries and researches recycling trends and challenges. Together with the chair "Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components" (PEM) at RWTH Aachen Institute of Technology, research is being conducted here, among other things, on alternatives for the further use of discarded batteries. For example, increasing the recovery rate can be supported with the help of artificial intelligence. The demand for batteries will increase steadily – especially due to e-mobility, but also other areas such as battery storage for industrial customers. A win-win situation: We can engage in sustainability and environmental protection and offer our customers the greatest possible transparency in the recycling of batteries.
